Project title: Saving Women from unwanted Pregnancy and Unsafe MR (Nirapod)

Overall Objective

Strengthen safe Menstrual Regulation (MR) and family planning (FP) services for the women and adolescents in selected districts of Bangladesh

Specific Objectives

1. To increase demand for safe MR, FP, post abortion care and post MR FP services among the women, adolescents and garment factory workers
2. To Increase quality and capacity for delivering safe MR, FP, post abortion care and post MR FP services in public, private and NGO facilities
3. To obtain GOB and garment associations support and approval for implementation of project activities and testing of modified service modalities
4. To obtain support of  local communities (community leaders, elected bodies etc.) and other stakeholders for promotion  of safe MR and prevention of VAW, early marriage and pregnancy

Major Highlights of the Project (Referral System)

One of the unique features of the “Nirapod Project” is that with the active support from the Local Govt. Administration, Local GoB Bodies, Formal and Informal Leaders “Community Support Group (CSG) Members are preventing Early Marriage and Violence Against Women (VAW) amongst their community. Even that Male Community Support Group members and Union Parisad Members (UP Members) are actively referring pregnant women for “Safe Delivery”; not only that sometimes they are taking/accompany the pregnant women to the GoB and other health facilities for receiving the services. CSG members of Nirapod Project, BAPSA referred community people for receiving various SRH services including prevention of VAW and preventing Early Marriages.
