Integrated TB Care and Prevention

BAPSA Integrated TB care and prevention Program:

Project Background: BAPSA is providing an essential services package (ESP) in Dhaka South City Corporation under the Ministry of LGRD & C through 6 Primary healthcare centers and one comprehensive reproductive healthcare center in PA-2. Earlier the same services were provided in PA-3. It has been implementing the TB Control Program since 2001 in Hazaribagh and Lalbagh areas. Currently, BAPSA is providing TB services through 3 Microscopic and 3 DOTS centers. BAPSA is conducting different types of advocacy and social mobilization programs to raise awareness and combat TB in the community for early case detection and successful treatment-outcome of TB cases (all forms).
Between July 2021 and June 2022, a total of 775 TB Cases (all forms) were diagnosed and treated in the BAPSA-supported urban areas of Dhaka. BAPSA is conducting different types of advocacy and social mobilization programs to raise awareness about TB in the community of the project areas, for early case detection and successful treatment outcome of TB cases.

The program has taken special initiatives to strengthen referral linkages with private practitioners for enhancing case finding and ensuring treatment. BAPSA has been observing World TB Day on 24 March every year.

Objectives: Every year target is to identify 221 TB cases per 100,000 Population.
Bring all TB patients under the DOTS.
93%TB Patients are cured and treatment is to be completed every year.
Ensure quality services to all TB Patients.
